Undergraduate Minors
Our Minors
The Department of Chemistry is the home to two minors, the Chemistry Minor and the new Pharmaceutical Methods and Technology Minor. If you are interested in adding one of these minors to your degree program, please contact your major advisor and request the addition.
Chemistry Minor
Have an interest in chemistry, but majoring in something else? If so, you can choose to minor in chemistry. A minor in chemistry will provide you a solid background in the discipline. This minor is complementary to major studies in both the sciences and non-sciences and can be very useful if you are anticipating a career in environmental sciences, business, secondary education, or medical-based fields. The minor is comprised of 25-26 semester hours covering the subdisciplines of chemistry. Note: Less than 50% of minor courses can be double-counted in the major.
Pharmaceutical Methods & Technology Minor
The Pharmaceutical Methods & Technology Minor is comprised of 18 semester hours of core coursework that will expose you to the experimental methods and techniques commonly used in research, development, and manufacturing in the pharmaceutical field. This minor would make a great addition to your degree program if you are pursuing a profession in the pharmaceutical, biochemical, or health-related fields. The minor will also assist in providing a strong knowledge base if you are planning to pursue a master’s degree in areas such as biomedical science, chemistry, microbiology, and biotechnology. Note: Less than 50% of minor courses can be double-counted in the major.
